Main Bearings

Non-Race Bearings are hard 2-layer bearings that are made for stock engines to run hundreds of thousands of miles on without needing to be replaced. They are great for longeivty in stock engines, but their hardness makes them less forgiving in race applications.

Race Bearings are softer 3-layer bearings that are designed to absorb the shock of race applications.

The Size of the bearing will depend on 2 things: 1.) if your crank was machined, or 2.) if your engine builder wants more or less oil clearance than a standard bearing will provide.

If you want to learn more about how bearing attributes influence bearing selection, check out the Bearing section of Jay's Bottom End Buyers Guide here...
