The combustion inside the engine pushes the crankshaft and the block away from eachother. As you make more power, increased cylinder pressure pushes the crankshaft and block away from eachother harder and harder. Main Studs hold the crankshaft inside of the block. The more power the engine makes, and the higher you rev it, the stronger the main studs need to be to keep them held together.
