Head Studs

The combustion inside the engine pushes the head and the block away from eachother. As you make more power, increased cylinder pressure pushes the head and block away from eachother harder and harder. Head Studs hold the block and the head together. The more power the engine makes, the stronger the head studs need to be to keep them held together. If the head studs stretch, it could lead to a head gasket failure or worse.
